While at Sunkist RTS, my main focus was working on the core grading software for the SunSort, our flagship product. Using a combination of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light, the SunSort performed high-speed optical inspection of citrus fruit.
Packinghouses around the world, including the US, Spain, and Argentina have used the SunSort to great success, sorting fruit by size, color, visual quality, and discarding decayed fruit.
My contributions in particular were in using visible-spectrum cameras to identify a sub-type of decay on lemons using color, as well as identifying a series of visual defects known as "red spot".
Aside from computer vision and image processing, I was also more generally involved in software improvements and modernization efforts, as much of the original core software had its roots in earlier-generation optical graders from the mid-2000s.
